Something amazing has been brewing over the past couple of months here at the 46 Waltham St artist studios, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
We love our neighborhood – it’s filled with small businesses and amazing artisans and everyone is proud to show their support for one another. Our friends Don & John have a studio and shop located right in the courtyard of our building, which makes it so easy to pop over to see what they’re working on and catch up. PATCH NYC, the studio where they work, displays all of their beautiful artwork and products.
PATCH NYC has evolved into a lifestyle brand of creative collaborations featuring their artwork, including home decor such as candles, pillows and stationary, and accessories like scarves, hats, etc. While we were out to dinner one night catching up with them, our very own collaboration was born when we realized that their artwork could translate beautifully into fine jewelry.
We work on custom jewelry projects all the time and knew that we would have all the right tools to make this vision a reality. We got to work brainstorming ideas right away. Don made some sketches for us to go off of, and Moria turned those sketches into 3-D CAD renderings. After we had all of the CAD images ready to go, we started to cast the pieces in 14K gold, and they created fascinating charms with an intriguing texture to mimic the painted bold lines seen in Don’s detailed India ink drawings.
Once the pieces were cast, we thought that it would be so interesting to add a variety of stones to really make the designs pop. Megan picked exactly the right stones to complete the jewels. We added diamond details to create some sparkle, and used rubies, sapphires, and black diamonds for a bit of color.
The end result is our captivating collection of charms and necklaces that are meant to be mixed & matched to compliment the owner’s unique style. Each charm is accompanied by a signed print of the original drawing that inspired it’s creation.
We can’t wait to launch this line and share all of it’s beauty with all of you. Join us on Thursday, October 26th from 6-9 pm for an official launch party in the PATCH NYC courtyard gallery located at 46 Waltham St in Boston’s South End.
