A client recently came to us with an antique pin that had been inherited from her fiancé’s grandmother. Although a beautiful precious piece, pins worn so frequently by our stylish grandmothers in the 40’s and 50’s don’t get a lot of wear today. Our client wanted to reuse the sapphires and diamonds to make a few unique pieces that she knew she’d wear every day.
We first decided on two eternity bands, which would be worn as her wedding bands for her upcoming December wedding. Using the stones from the pin, she decided on one diamond and one sapphire eternity band set in 14k rose gold. The pronged eternity band is a timeless classic but setting the bands in rose gold made them a bit more unique and created a beautiful contrast between the sapphire and diamond. We’ve been seeing more and more clients interested in rose gold pieces which we love to use because it’s so soft looking.
The remaining diamonds we used in a pair of diamond stud earrings, also in 14k rose gold. Both of these pieces can be worn everyday and carry the memory of their loved one.
Please excuse the amateur photography, we didn’t have time for a formal shoot.
