Moria & I are thrilled to introduce David Webb Jewelry as the newest addition to our list of brands. We have both been superfans of the bold jewelry line for years but it wasn’t until our last trip to Las Vegas that we saw the jewelry in person. David Webb designs are bold, colorful and some of the most-valued on the secondary market. His creations are well known for their distinct hand carved gold designs and hand painted enamel accents.
We were also thrilled to discover the Tool Chest and the Motif collections, both wearable in that everyday way. For a long time we have been searching for a heritage brand, those collectible pieces that every woman should have, but David Webb stands out from the pack. The Tool Chest collection (more below) is that classic, chunky rich gold nail design. In particular, I am coveting the ring and the nail stud earrings. The Motif collection, other the other hand, is Art Deco perfection. When you try the pieces they just exude a refined, sophisticated look.

The added bonus of the David Webb brand is that everything is still handmade in his NYC workshop, using his original designs and molds. These are the same pieces that created such fans like Elizabeth Taylor and the Bouvier sisters, Jackie & Lee.
We visited this amazing building over the summer for a full tour.
Though David Webb passed in 1975, his over 40,000 designs have been carefully archived, and each piece is created using one of his original designs. Unlike other jewelry houses, the Company does not employ any other designers and many of the jewelers have spent their career at David Webb.
David Webb’s designs have graced the cover of numerous publications, including Vogue, Harper’s Bazzar, and Town & Country. He was a favorite of many socialites and celebrities alike, including style icons such as Jackie Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, and Diane Von Furstenburg, just to name a few. Even after his passing, celebrities and fashion icons swoon to his amazing statement jewels.
One of our favorite collections of his is the Tool Chest collection. It is simplistic with a focus on minimalism, and was inspired by the changing styles during the start of the new decade in the early 70’s. David Webb’s thought was that the new times required a new non-jewelry look. He wanted to create something that was so simple and easy that anyone, man or woman, could wear it anytime & with anything. David Webb wanted to eliminate any unnecessary or frivolous elements, and he did so by taking what is typically a tiny element used in making a piece of jewelry, into the jewelry itself. It makes a subtle yet bold statement.
“David Webb turned the elemental into an essential: the nail was non-jewelry, a declaration of style and power.” – Ruth Peltason, Author of David Webb: The Quintessential American Jeweler
David Webb’s apprentice and famous jeweler, Aldo Cipullo later went on to work for Cartier, where he created the notorious ‘Juste Un Clou’ collection.
Another one of our favorite’s is the Motif Collection. It has clean lines and creates geometric patterns in simple gold, with accents of diamonds and white and black enamel. David Webb described this collection as a return to the fundamentals of jewelry quality, design, and wearability.
“The Motif Collection is effortless, wearable jewelry. Its understated look is its strength.”
