Last summer a client brought in a loose large yellow lab grown sapphire stone and asked us to create a fun cocktail ring she could wear with natural diamonds. Her grandfather had travelled to Germany many years ago for work. During his travels, he collected a yellow step-cut stone… It was actually one of the very first lab grown yellow sapphires.
Now it’s common to see lab stones, but at the time, it was very rare and cutting edge technology. She remembers hearing her beloved grandfather tell this fun story and wanted to finally wear this piece of her family’s history.
The ring is such a show-stopper and will be worn for years to come, mixed with new and old jewelry.
